Children access The Drugs Box
What drugs problem?
The Drugs Box® Schools is an all round education and interactive drugs and alcohol education system that requires no user expertise which can be used by KS3/4 age group. It is now available as a network application to be placed on the School's desk-top.
Your school can now provide constant up-to-date drugs and alcohol information to all pupils and staff. And all the while you gather anonymous data profiling the success of your drugs awareness activities. Track what your young people know about drugs, which drugs they are interested in - and which they are coming across in their wider communities.
This can be used to evidence your PSHE commitment to drugs issues - without covering every notice-board with drugs posters! These often put off parents and create the wrong impression for younger pupils. A discreet desk-top icon is all you need to provide your school with full-time drugs awareness and protection.
The Drugs Box is fun
The Drugs Box - Knowledge - Quick, easy & fun to access
The Drugs Box® is designed to allow quick access to relevant information. Within a minute The Drugs Box® will provide useful and sought-after facts easily. The interactive features encourage the user to explore further which ensures The Drugs Box ® is useful to different people with different levels of knowledge and drug experience.
The non-directive approach allows the user to choose pathways amongst the array of information. The person is free to move for example, from drug effects to health issues, on to legal issues and then perhaps to services available locally.
Young people are empowered as this deliberate arrangement of information with current & credible local detail transforms simple facts into practical knowledge and real understanding.
The Drugs Box - Research - Qualitative and quantitative
The Drugs Box® gathers evaluation data by testing knowledge, canvassing opinion and tracking pages viewed. Current street names for drugs, the awareness of your educational programs, or local opinions are all gathered anonymously and discreetly.
Young people really enjoy the fact that they are contributing to the overall knowledge of drugs issues by simply using The Drugs Box® confident that they remain anonymous.
This non-directive freedom gives a level of interest and input you can usefully monitor. Different drugs become of interest, health concerns surface or legal issues may become prevalent. You are able to interpret and apply this relevant, up-to-date information in a variety of pro-active and supportive ways. Your service provision is then informed and justified.
The Drugs Box - Staff - Support for all
The Drugs Box® is full of non-judgemental facts with appropriate information for all age groups. This is combined with attitude-seeking questions to maintain credibility and engagement..
This allows support workers to use The Drugs Box® in any situation. It keeps people amused, interested and informed so workers can support individuals and groups flexibly. You can be confident in the potential of 24-hour support offered by The Drugs Box®.
Young people themselves successfully use The Drugs Box® to conduct their own peer education workshops - lasting ten times longer than conventional literature approaches!
The Drugs Box® is used extensively in staff training as it is flexible and accurate, allowing discussion to flow freely or be directed by a facilitator to support particular projects.
